Learn How To
GROW YOUR OWN FOOD, THE EASY WAY
Done-with-you, at your place, with expert local support.
Learning how to grow your own food is an absolutely fundamental skill – that is unfortunately not being taught to most people. People have become overly dependent on supermarkets, and each new generation is losing touch with where the food on our plate actually comes from.
Let’s face it – learning to grow food can be challenging when you’re doing it all alone. Oftentimes people start to learn, but get disheartened when things don’t fully go to plan straight away.
This is why we started Food Insurance. Food-growing done-with-you, at your place, with expert local support. Founded by Dave & Josh – two mates with a passion for gardening and permaculture, who want to help fellow Kiwi’s reconnect with the soil and grow their own food.
When you become a member with Food Insurance, we’ll regularly come to your place and ensure you always have a lush garden full of food – sharing our knowledge and techniques with you along the way.
When we visit, we deliver new seeds/seedlings/plants & trees to ensure your space is looking lush – and leave you with a short video/worksheet to keep you fully in the loop, every step of the way.
All subscribers also get access to our community of other growers, and their very own, fully managed compost bin.

Our options are flexible – most of our customers want a 1-2 metre garden bed with all the kiwi favourites for salads and roast veges – however others opt for a full-blown 30-metre-plus food forest. The options are endless.
If you are within range of our available locations, book a free site visit where we can become acquainted.
If you are then keen to sign up – we will come back to your place to set up your garden bed, and drop in your first batch of herb and veggie seedlings.
You’ll be notified whenever your crops are ready to harvest and the progress on your next tray of plant babies! We also have a WhatsApp & Facebook group where all our gardeners can collab and discuss ideas.
When we come back to catch up we’ll see how your garden patch is progressing. We will work with your goals to maximise production to a manageable level.
Twice per season we deliver more seeds/plants/seedlings/trees, along with a cheat sheet containing instructions, lessons and guidance on how to keep things balanced. If you aren’t home when we arrive, we’ll send you a detailed video walkthrough of how your garden is progressing, and any handy hints/tips that will benefit you!
